A Novel Murder

My two favorite amateur sleuths are back and at it again in the small village of Merrychurch. Jonathon and Mike are as inquisitive as ever—read “nosy”—and along with some wonderful secondary characters, none of whom would ever “gossip” you understand, this third installment in the ‘Merrychurch Mysteries’ series is another winner.

I had to wonder whether the author wrote this story with a little tongue in cheek seeing as it revolves around the murder of a famous author during a literary convention in Merrychurch. *grins* Let’s just say that the author who was murdered more than deserved it and the list of suspects just grew and grew. She wasn’t a nice woman, certainly not like Ms. Wells, and this author seemed to enjoy being nasty and gossiping up a storm.

While Jonathon and Mike are busy trying to solve the whodunit, Jonathon comes to the realization that he is tired of trying to appease his father—by behaving as if he and Ruth were actually a couple—and instead he takes the bull by the horns, so to speak, and proposes to Mike right at the pub! Of course, Ruth and her lover Clare are thrilled for them and between the four of them they come up with a resolution to make Jonathon’s dad happy and give all of them what they most want.

The murder mystery was well done and this time I didn’t immediately guess the murderer although he (or she) was in my top three contenders. I enjoy returning to this little English village and would love to live there and watch all the comings and goings of these very interesting characters. I look forward to more murder, coffee, cake, and tea, and truly hope there’ll be more!

A Novel Murder K.C. Wells was given to me in exchange for an honest review.. Jonathan and Mike are helping the village’s librarian host a Literary Festival and when murder happens they put on their sleuthing caps for one last adventure. I really enjoyed this book from the work it takes to put on a festival from the host's eyes to the charm of a small village and unexpected mystery that pops up threatening to expose secrets many citizens want kept in the dark. This the last installment of the Merrychurch Mysteries and K.C. finished this series off perfectly.
