Crow and Firefly

Flipped? Okay, so the premise of this book was very unique. I was immediately drawn in by Ari and his sister. I felt for them, wanted them to succeed oh so badly and I was somewhat on the edge of my seat with every move Ari made while starving to death. However, where this story flipped for me was in the last few pages. SPOILERS: I had already guessed who Lord Dagur was in the bar scene so when he presented himself after some poorly excused hiding (at the wedding) in the bedroom I was flabbergasted and a tad disappointed. I can appreciate that not every hero is a dashing lothario but Dagur was a blushing nervous wreck. He seemed completely different from the take charge attitude of the man at the bar. By comparison Ari waffled from distrust, anger, incredulity and even described his exploits to that of being a whore. Who is this guy again? One that would rather turn into an animal and forget his precious sister and nephew ever existed even though his salvation is moments away? Ari sacrificed so much to protect his family that it is puzzling that he would try to run away from the marriage bed. The thread of sense making was thin indeed. So yeah, the author had me and then they lost me somewhere in the woods and I'm standing out there at the end of the story still kicking a wretched sapling for what this story could have been.

I picked this book up the day it came out and Really enjoyed It. I loved the setting The world The writer built was so vivid.I loved the twist on Shapeshifters and their relationship to Magic. It made this book stand out as unique when there are so many shifter books out there.
