Deliver Me

Asking for forgiveness can be one of the most difficult things in the world to do, but if Zachariah is ever to get beyond not only his writer’s block, but also his guilt, he’s going to have to be honest with Jack and hope for the best. Forgiving a man who betrayed their friendship and left Jack in a situation where he almost died might be more than Jack believes he can do.

Jack has spent fifteen years trying to forget the friendship and resulting betrayal that he and Zachariah shared in high school. He has moved on and made a life for himself, albeit a bit of a lonely one in terms of a romantic relationship, but a life he’s happy and content with. Zachariah has become a world-famous author whose books are made into movies, he lives on St. Tropez, and he has never gotten over what his young, stupid self did.

I have to be honest and admit that I didn’t warm up to Zachariah at all. In my opinion, he came across as very immature and his explanation for what happened that night had me rolling my eyes. Jack, on the other hand, impressed me, except for how quickly I felt he gave his forgiveness to Zachariah. Oh, there was the standard back and forth, but overall I felt Jack gave in too fast. However, a first love is difficult to forget, so I gave credit to Jack for being man enough to let the past go.

‘Deliver Me’ is a sweet novella with some inconsistencies I struggled to wrap my head around but finally decided to just run with the storyline. I liked that Jack and Zachariah got the happy ever after they both craved and the ending was quite lovely. If you like reading about forgiveness and acceptance, and two men who took fifteen years to gravitate back together again, then you might enjoy this novella.
