I have really enjoyed Cate Ashwood's 'Hope Cove' series, and I knew that Haydn's story would be my favorite. I've adored Haydn from the moment he stepped onto the page, and I couldn't wait to see his world turned completely upside down. I suspected the author was going to give him a run for his money, and I was right.
\"The woman you saw me with before, that is my sister, Sam. Not my wife. I am not married. I never have been. Because… and you may find this hard to believe… but I am gay. That was my daughter I was with. She is the wonderful product of a not-so-wonderful mistake on my part, but the mother hasn’t been in the picture since she was born. Sam and I have raised her since she was a baby.”
Haydn is the epitome of one-night, no muss, no fuss, and definitely no relationships. He's happy for his friends, but the hell they went through is exactly why he doesn't want to deal with anything more than getting his itch scratched. His and Trevor's one-night (or so he thinks) is explosive beyond belief, and even though Haydn never plans on seeing Trevor again, he has to admit that memories of that night haunt him. Until Trevor walks into his bakery, with his daughter, and never seeing him again turns into another night, and Oliver inviting Trevor to join the gang for poker night. Where Haydn discovers that Trevor is a retired NHL player. Oh, this is just too much.
\"I like the newness, the passion, the excitement. I don’t want the predictability that comes with long-term. I don’t want to fall into some mundane routine, and I don’t want the hurtful words and overly dramatic situations that go along with the end. Can’t we just keep this light? Casual? We can have fun together without getting all serious, right?”
Haydn hasn't got a clue what he wants. He's so terrified of a commitment, of being stuck in a relationship like his parents and grandparents had, that he's constantly in turmoil between wanting to be with Trevor and needing to run far away. As time goes on with Haydn and Trevor just spending time together, not defining anything, Haydn discovers that family night with Trevor and his daughter is becoming his favorite kind of night.
A delightful ending to a series I've enjoyed. Haydn had to learn a tough lesson at the end, but he and Trevor both ended up with the perfect person that they both needed. Thank you, Cate, for a love story with realistic drama, and a lovely ending.

Well written, fantastic story, and characters you want to wrap up and take home. It’s definitely a comfort read and I loved it. If you’re looking for a lot of sex, bridged together by a flimsy story, this book isn’t for you. If you like a good solid story with a happy ending, grab this. This book has one of the funniest scenes I've ever read - do not have anything in your mouth when you get to the part about Haydn drying his hair in the bathroom. I guarantee you will spray it all over the place if you do.
As with the others, this book can stand alone but the first two books are so good, you really should read them.
