The Healing Power of Eggnog

This was a sweet holiday story from an author that I really enjoy, Jamie Fessenden. There is something about his writing that works for me. I find his books more erotic and more endearing than most, I think. However, this story lacked a little something, dropping my rating down to 3 stars.
I'll begin with what I liked. I think that the concept is a great one. It is about parents that tried to \"un-gay\" their son years ago, only to take in a homeless gay boarder years later to make amends and show that they have changed. It deals with family issues and jealousy, and I think it handles those topics well. I really liked the characters of Ryan and Will and their emotional baggage. This story had many lovely aspects to it, and the holiday theme was one that I'm a sucker for.
My main issue with this novella is the speed of the relationship between Will and Ryan. They moved from \"get to know you\" to \"love\" lightning fast and it just read false all the way through. Why couldn't they have just liked each other in the end?? They didn't have to love each other, not with the length of the novella. It was just way too rushed. I also thought that the sex scenes later on lacked a little something. I actually liked the more tame sexual encounters in the beginning more.
All in all, a solid \"like\" from me but it didn't hit it out of the park.
