Shy

Being desparately in love with his ex is just one of the hardships making the life of the shy banker Tom Morgan harder than it should be. His other mayor problem is social anxiety disorder, which makes him having panic attacs in social situtions. In this book he also has to face family drama, his ex-boyfriend's evil new lover and a potential new love affair of his own.

This might be the best book John Inman has ever written. (Followed by "spirit".) The first person narrator Tim was everything one could ever wish for in a boyfriend. He is one of this persons who will go out of their way to help the ones they love (ex or otherwise). Then there is Frank, the cute little brother of the ex's evil new boyfriend. He seems to be a small guy in a big city simply trying to live his life. Both of their lifes get trown over completely when they move to Indiana to run the farm of Frank's father. Can both of them take on whatever live has in store for them?

Even thogh I loved Tom and found his caracter developement both endearing and totally credible, the secondary caracters are the ones who makes this book staand out from every other love story. First there is beforementioned ex-boyfriend Jerry. The way the story starts you either expect them to get back together eventually or to have a huge fallout of some sorts and never speak to each other again. Neither happened. What really amazed me though was that no matter how nasty the guy behaved you couldn't really hate him.
Jerry's new lover Stanley however is one of those nasty characters you will hate from the beginning. He is one of those persons who are being deliberately cruel to everyone they don't need to suck up to. He was plain awesome in his twisted ways.

If your looking for a good love story with unexpected developements, loveable (and hateable) caracters and a bitter-sweet ending you will enjoy "Shy" a lot.

This is my first book by author John Inman – Shy … what an excellent story.
The premises of the story is a guy name Tom and with him you get Pedro, the Chihuahua … Funny thing is that Tom is SAD …
He meets Frank, who is also SAD … They bond, start trying to know each other and while all that.. Throw in the hilarity of their lives and an irreverent Pedro, yes the dog.
Frank has to return to his family farm along with him goes Tom and Pedro. Frank’s dad is not well… and the things that happens will have you laughing, crying and overall reading a fantastic book.

A very strong 4.5 this story had me laughing a lot! As another reviewer said it definitely had a Green Acres feel to it and the humor. Tom and Frank were wonderful main characters to get to know and love.
