SJD Peterson's Top Five Things in a Typical Day

Thursday August 31, 2017

When I thought about my five favorite things, of course my family and friends were the first thing to pop into my mind. Then I realized, that is probably most people’s response so I’m going to make that a given and think outside the box….kind of…sort of. So, here are the five favorite things about a typical day in the life of Jo.

5. NetFlix – It is the backdrop to my day. I rarely watch regular TV but I can’t stand a silent house. I can’t sleep without the TV playing nor can I write without it. I’d like to listen to music when I’m writing but I can’t. I end up typing the words to the song and the words are stuck in my head. Nothing worse than having a stupid song stuck in your head all day. I write to ID TV and sleep to Forensic Files. I know that’s a weird thing to have playing when sleeping but it’s one of my little quirks ☺

4. POPCORN – Like coffee, it’s one of those things I must have every day. Although, I only have it once a day, generally at night, instead of all day. So, coffee is still more important (duh) but popcorn and a good book is pretty fricken awesome!

3. The Voices in my Head – I am so grateful for them. I know that sounds crazy and maybe I am. I’m completely okay with this. They have led me to the most amazing career of my life. I have never taken my writing, fans and peers for granted. Each day I am thankful for the gift. I am truly blessed

2. COFFEE!!!! This one I had a hard time with. Should it be number one? Surely, it’s the thing I depend on most, every day, all day long. It’s the first thing I reach for when I wake up and the last thing I have before going to bed. I can’t write, you can’t speak to me, and I can’t function without it. I am an unapologetic coffee addict. It fuels my life!

1. Agnes May Bug aka Aggie May aka Pig. When I said the first thing I reach for is coffee that was true. However, it’s Aggie May that wakes me each morning with puppy kisses. Recently I went through a break up, my kids have grown-up and moved out and I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. I’ve always had someone dependent on me, always cared for someone else. For the first time in my life, I was completely alone. I was painfully lonely every day. Aggie May makes life better. She makes me laugh, snuggles me at night and calls to the caregiver in me. She’s my buddy and my happiness.

Meet Jo Peterson

SJD Peterson, better known as Jo, hails from Michigan. Not the best place to live for someone who hates the cold and snow. When not reading or writing, Jo can be found close to the heater checking out NHL stats and watching the Red Wings kick a little butt. Can't cook, misses the clothes hamper nine out of ten tries, but is handy with power tools.
