But For You

I was so excited to read book six in the 'A Matter of Time' series by Mary Calmes. Why, you might ask? Well, just the thought of watching my guys settled, parenting, and living the suburban lifestyle made me smile because I just knew it couldn't be that simple. And, true to form, it isn't.
'But For You' begins rather innocuously with Sam, Jory, their two adopted children, Kola and Hannah, living the family life. They have a home, Sam is the supervisor for the Chicago Marshall's Office, Jory and his partners still have their own business together, and life seems golden. Until Jory is in the ER after a traffic accident and the doctor treating him turns out to be the man Sam lived with for three months in Colombia all those years ago. The relationship Sam never told Jory about. Meanwhile Sam, Jory, and family are heading to Phoenix for a family reunion. Turns out a missing witness might be hiding there so Sam may or may not have to be doing a little work at the same time. The whole family reunion portion of the book is fantastic. I adore the words that come out of small children's mouths and it's obvious the author has experience with this. I almost snorted juice out of my nose in a few places I was laughing so hard. This story also introduces a new character, an undercover cop named Duncan Stiel, whom Jory sets up on a blind date with Aaron Sutter and I am really hoping the author will write a story for them because I think it might be pretty hot.
I loved this, maybe final *gulp*, story of Sam, Jory, their kids, and all of the wonderful secondary characters that inhabit 'A Matter of Time's' world. The action was here, the love, the sex, the hilariousness, and all the other fabulous qualities that makes this series one of my top ten favorites. If you've missed reading it then stop what you are doing and get the first book right now. You won't ever regret it. I promise.

I love the leaps of time that occur between these books. Years have passed since the last one and Jory is now married to Sam and they have a couple of kids. Jory is a super protective Dad but still as crazy as ever. Fast-paced, this book has the usual action although the personal danger to Jory is perhaps tempered by the fact he has children. Full of humour (Jory is as cute as ever) and loving (Sam is still gorgeous) and including the cast of characters from the earlier books with a sweet HEA ending.

I'm reading this now and I love it so much I don't want it to end. All Mary Calmes books are so great I hardly other to read the blurb before buying. I'm so pleased there is another Jory and Sam book and so sad it's the last one. These books are some of the few permently on my laptop and e-reader and are read over and over again. Mary you've done it again, thanks.
