Parting Shot

Finally my curiosity about the mystery of Aaron Sutter has been satisfied. I love it when two men from different backgrounds come together, and Duncan and Aaron are such a beautiful couple. I now see that Jory could never give Aaron what he needed but Duncan certainly could and he did. It may come off as a little bit insta but both men went through so much that I think when the right man came along they both held on and didn't want to let go.

I liked Aaron for his generosity, loyalty and how he was not afraid of showing his vulnerable side to Duncan. He could simply let go. What no one knew was that for all his strength Aaron still needed someone to lean on, to give him the freedom of not being on top of the world but just a man with feeling and wants. I also loved the possessiveness and the attitude he had, it was such a turn on!

Duncan came off a little shallow and hesitant in the beginning but in the course of the book I slowly changed my mind about him. He was very lonely and had no support. It felt like he was surrounded by people but still apart from them for some reason. But when Aaron came along he finally knew that this was the man worth holding on to. I liked how Duncan understood Aaron - his quirks, how his mind worked and what he was about. He showed Aaron how to be partners, how to compromise - it all finally fell into place.

The case itself was fun to read about although it didn't leave a lasting impression. I loved their interactions, the sneak peek into the world of Aaron Sutter. That was the best part. All in all, this was a fun and steamy book that concludes this series. I loved them all, and Jory, Sam, Dane, Aja, Aaron and Duncan will have a special place in my heart and my virtual shelf! I highly recommend it!

The story opened with a bang and I felt as though I was really missing he backstory. Jumped right into drama,love action without a warm up. Really wanted to enjoy this, but did not finish. 😥

I was so excited when I heard that Mary Calmes was writing a book about Duncan and Aaron. I mean, let's face it, I was not impressed with Aaron's behavior when he was with Jory in the beginning of the series books. But, his reactions at the end of 'But For You', book six, right after he met Duncan left me with the strong impression that there was still a lot to learn about Aaron. I am so glad I was right and so grateful to the author for writing their story.
Duncan Stiel, undercover Chicago detective, and Aaron Sutter, billionaire, are set up on a blind date by their respective friends, Sam and Jory, the love god. Both of these men are in the closet, both of them are intensely lonely, and both of them need the other in their life. I have to say that these two men together have some of the, hands-down, hottest sex I've ever read. This author knows how to write smoking hot scenes with just the right amount of detail to make me breathless with yearning. But, there's more to a relationship than sex and neither of these men really know a lot about that. So, when Aaron's father digs up stories about his son being gay and even gets a witness, his father threatens to have the CEO position removed from Aaron due to moral turpitude. Huh. Now life is intruding and the ugly reality of it is surfacing forcing Duncan and Aaron to discontinue their newfound love affair regardless of how incredibly right it has felt.
Three months later Duncan has the unfortunate luck for his homicide case to stumble into an FBI undercover operation. Time is of the essence and Duncan has no choice but to recruit Aaron to help him capture the drug smuggling murderer. These two strong, dominant men who are able to each be submissive and vulnerable with one another was enough to make my heart hurt. They are so beautiful to watch together. I really adored the way they handled the whole money issue—I mean, Aaron is über rich and Duncan is a police detective, they compromised and dealt with each other's insecurities really, really well.
This book had the drama and angst I was expecting but it definitely didn't smother me as it was mixed in with some very funny moments. Who could have guessed that these two totally opposite men would be so perfect for each other? I fell in love with both Duncan and Aaron and this book. I'm hoping it isn't the last I hear from all of the characters in the series, but if it is, the author did a marvelous job ending it.

How could you not read this?? If you love Mary Calmes and you have read the AMOT books and Acrobat (which I love), you will love this book! What a different view of Duncan and Aaron. I have to say I have read it three times already.. Fell in LOVE with these two characters. They made each others characters so much more lovable. I am sad the series is over! You see a cameo of Sam Kage, but no Jory, that was my only gripe, I kinda wished I got one more conversation with that lovable flake...Enjoy
