Holy Cow!

This year's Daily Dose package from Dreamspinner Press is focusing on my favorite genre - paranormal, primarily shifters. It explains why I'm having so much fun with each of these wonderful stories, and I can't seem to keep my enthusiasm from just bubbling forth with each new story I read.

I'll be honest and admit that India is not a country I have ever wished to travel to. However, the beautiful descriptions the author gives of Jaisalmer had me in awe much like Duncan was upon seeing the city for the first time. Duncan has been feeling a lot like a third wheel but Vik and Bella wouldn't want to miss his company. The three have been best friends since their first year of medical school, and even though Vik and Bella fell in love and now are married, the friendship between the three is still just as strong.

Wandering the city streets leads Duncan to an unfortunate run-in, literally, with one of the many sacred cattle that roam the streets. Unbeknownst to him, the cow is Akash's cousin who is teasing Akash over his fascination with Duncan. Akash has been following him all day in his other form. When they meet, with Akash in his human form, the sparks are definitely lit and they spend one glorious day and night together, until Duncan wakes alone. He doesn't know that Akash was summoned back to the family seat of power by his grandmother. She informs Akash that if he doesn't marry the woman she has picked for him, in one month's time, then he will spend the rest of his days in his bovine form never being allowed to be human again.

A very interesting story filled with magic, legend, treachery, and familial machinations. I enjoyed seeing Duncan and Akash able to have their own happy ever after.

This story brings you would with family drama and ancient secrets. It also brings a instant connection for Duncan and Akash. Turns out humans might be the reason everything turns out alright in the end. This story is fast past and the ending is really just the beginning.
